You Know What’s Scary?

You know what’s scary? Asking people to read your books. Writing is safe. Writers are their own worst enemies, and if we get out of our own way, we can write some pretty good stuff. But asking other people to read it? Releasing those characters that you have loved and nurtured and kept safe in the warm cocoon of your brain? Trusting other people with those fragile words?

Scary.

You know what’s scarier?

Giving those words and those characters to strangers who are going to read it out loud and share it with the internet.
