Alli here. Getting Adam to introduce himself has been like pulling teeth. He’s a pretty private guy and couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to know more about him. I couldn’t convince him to write an introduction like Kyle did, but he agreed to be interviewed.
There was a bit of stink lately on Twitter about whether or not Romantic Comedies were a different genre from Romance, and whether or not one had more value than the other. I didn’t catch the whole debate, but I think the argument was that romantic comedies show people working through their differences to come to a happy ending, while romances are just about who can get out of their corset faster.
Ah, the age old debate between plot and smut. To which I say..
My French Canadian mom always said you could tell when there were Catholic girls in the room, because they would dance with each other when there were no boys to dance with. It’s a saying from a bygone era, but then, maybe dancing with an opposite gendered partner is too.
I read a lot of older books. Not old books. Not Dickens or Melville (not often anyway). Just stuff that’s not currently on the new releases page at Amazon. My TBR pile’s enormous and I’m not much of a spender, so I’m constantly trying to catch up on stuff I already own. I’ve never gotten close to clearing the queue. I blame my writing habit for taking up my free time. Also my full time job that limits my available reading hours.
So I’ve decided to introduce #tbt reviews, and maybe you’ll find a few oldie but goodie titles to add to your gigantic TBR pile.
Are you on Medium? I just joined. If my first post is any indication, it’s going to be where I post my serious real life stuff. Fuzzy book stuff will stay here. But if you’re there and want to follow, here’s how to Craft Like a Mother.
Hi guys! Kyle here. Allison’s away this week with her day job, so I’m holding down the fort. Fortunately, I’m good at this kind of thing, I do it a lot for my day job, so you’re in good hands!
Wow. This is a bit like a blind date isn’t it? Everyone afraid to ask the first question. I’ll go first, ok? It won’t be awkward at all, I promise.
I’m Kyle, 27, Sagittarius, I like chocolate cupcakes, pina coladas and long walks on the beach.
Ok, three of those things are actually true. I’ll let you figure out which ones. It’s definitely not pina coladas. Coconut is not an approved food group in our house. That white flaky stuff that you eat and then find in your gums two days later? I mean, how does it even do that?
They say writing is hard, but the business of writing is harder. So here’s me. And there’s my critique partner. He naps. I write. Seems fair.
There’s lots planned. Character sketches, reviews of other books, regular updates on the whole business side of things. It’s bound to be interesting for me, and entertaining for you!
